Loving Without Fear

Once in a while a song sticks with me and I can’t shake it. Here is the most recent song that has impacted me and left me feeling like it is speaking the language of my hearts’ desire.

I love this song; the power of the words behind it hit me every time I hear it.

Its Called “Fix My Eyes” By for King & Country

Even the first line above… “Love like I’m not scared” its such a simple concept, and yet how often do we hesitate, wondering if our showing care for another with “enable them” or make us look like we can be taken advantage of?

Of course there are times when these things will apply, maybe offering $100 cash to a drug addict isn’t the best plan, but at the same time if you are driving by and a homeless person in standing on the corner asking for some money for food, and you feel prompted to give – you are free to “love like you’re not scared” trusting that God’s leading you to do something will translate somehow to that person in a Godly and powerful way. We don’t need to be anxious about anything if we have Him first in our lives, including our expressions of love and care to those who need it. (Phil. 4:6)

Sometimes God calls us to do things that don’t really make sense to us, or the world around us for that matter. Fortunately it doesn’t matter what the world thinks.

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 1 Cor. 1:18

After all, if we are supposed to love our enemies, how much more are we supposed to love those who aren’t our enemies? Matt 5:44

I wrote a post not long ago about our family mission to “Speak Life” to those we encounter in all areas of our life. (Click here to read it) This song could represent how to speak life to others –

Love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on You
On You

If our eyes are fixed on Jesus, fear fades away. Our need for fair play and returned favours dies and we stand up for those who need protection and help with the right intentions and without concern for the results, God will work in his time as He sees fit as long as we are faithful and have our eyes and hearts on Him.
