Our next step…

May 2012

Dear Family and Friends,

Have you ever given yourself permission to dream dreams? Have you ever allowed yourself a moment to sit back and project your ideal career with no limitations or fears or restrictions believing God may indeed bless you with just that? Have you ever prayed that there must be more to what God wants you to do with your life – to live beyond yourself so that you know, without a doubt, that what is happening is a result of God’s blessings and daily provision alone? Well, if you haven’t, we encourage you to give it a try to see what God may lead you to…as long as you are willing! This is what we did recently and we want to share with you what God revealed through our prayer.

OUR DREAM

As most of you are aware, Dave resigned from his position at Word of Life Church here in Niverville, MB, on December 31, 2011 being obedient to God’s prompting that it was time to leave ~ difficult but necessary. We both have peace about moving on to what God has in store for us. In mid-February, Dave and I dedicated a night of prayer and intentional focus on seeking the Lord on our ministry and vocational future. We shared with each other what we were most passionate about and what our ideal position would look like. It included ministering together where we could teach, disciple and speak into lives of others about marriages and family issues. We wanted to bring hope, encouragement, wisdom and Godly strength in a time where the family structure is under huge attack. Together, we wanted to reach out to families as they battle through all sorts of obstacles and share timely, Biblical truths to help live with greater victory and fulfillment.

WHAT FOLLOWED

It was during our time of prayer that the name “Dave Currie” was scribed across my mind. I couldn’t shake the prompting that I needed to contact him with what I thought was to receive advice on where we should go from here. He had been a former professor of ours at CBC. No doubt he would have suggestions on next steps in fulfilling what we were feeling was God leading us in family ministry. To make a long but amazing story short, through Facebook, emails, Skype, staff applications and a couple of face-to-face meetings, things started to gel for us. We went to Edmonton to meet in person and there we were blessed to participate in Dave and Donalyn’s marriage and family weekend seminars called IParent and Fusion 2:1. In the ensuing discussion, we were asked to join staff with the Currie’s on their incredible journey of Doing Family Right.

CHECK OUT THE MINISTRY

The Mission Statement of Doing Family Right is “To share the difference that knowing God makes in a life, a marriage and a family.” If you have some time, we would be honored if you would check out our website– go to www.DoingFamilyRight.com The Currie’s started the ministry in January of 2010. The vision of DFR is exactly what Dave and I were praying about in terms of what we feel God was allowing us to dream! God not only answered our prayers, He blessed us with our deepest desire and passion being part of a ministry where we can minister together to equip and share with people God’s blueprint for their marriages, family and personal lives! Praise the Lord!!

SO WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?

It’s a huge step of faith. Yes, believe it or not, we are moving back to BC. Yes, in August, we will leave Manitoba and begin this new chapter in our lives as staff of Doing Family Right. We are so excited and honored to be part of this amazing ministry and hope and pray that you will consider partnering with us in doing some Godly damage, claiming ground for families across Canada and beyond! We covet your prayers for this new and great adventure is not only marriage and family ministry but also having to raise our full support as missionaries.

WHAT IS OUR MINISTRY ROLE?

Dave will be full-time and Melissa will be part-time, allowing her to be with the children and work from home, something that a lot of people have now decided to do themselves when they wish to stay closer to their children. Even though she’ll be working from home, her registered office address will be the same as that of her husband’s full-time location, so any letters and documents can be sent there to avoid disrupting the family and home life. As well as this, Melissa working from home will mean less income but this has been accounted for as we have looked into this avatrade review and will be going into the stock market. Dave’s position includes speaking in churches, conferences, workshops/seminars, camps, retreats, and other groups who desire to hear God’s perspective on marriage and family. You can also pray that God will open up more doors of impact so that families can be strengthened God’s way. Why not look for ways to partner with us in your church or community? Please share the Doing Family Right ministry with others, as word of mouth is the greatest form for advertising and creating broader influence. We are excited to weave our stories and experiences around God’s unchanging truth for the home. Pray for His Spirit to work through us in life-changing ways!

WILL YOU JOIN OUR TEAM?

Will you walk this road with us? As we feel clearly that God has called us to reach lives and marriages with the non-negotiable difference that Jesus makes, we also feel that He has called a team of ministry partners who will join us in this vision through their monthly support. We are asking that you prayerfully consider what your involvement could be. Together with your prayers, financial support, encouragement and sharing with others about our new ministry, we can make a huge impact on the lives of those around us, strengthening marriages and families across the world.

We will be in touch with you. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone – (204) 388-6821 or by email – David@DoingFamilyRight.com or Melissa@DoingFamilyRight.com Attached is a ministry support form to look over.

In Deep Excitement and Appreciation,

Dave and Melissa McVety
